Profile Patches - Social Stitchworking

These were created for the Trap\door 10cc show at the Bowman in the glass cases. All works had to be 10cm x 10cm. Super, duper small.

These images are from my own profile pictures (world's cheapest model) on various social networking sites. I re-sized the profile pics and changed them to gray scale. Then the images were printed on to inkjet cotton. I then hand embroidered various interventions. Once embroidered, the patches are then heat n' bonded to canvas and machine embroidered around the end.

I like the dichotomy of fabric patches and computer coding patches. I'm also a little obsessed with curating profile pics. I have some ideas percolating for residency proposals in regards to social networking and profile pictures.

I've misplaced my camera cable, so these images were scanned and the resolution is a little weird.

Female Merit Badges

Argh. So I've broken my ankle which means a lot of surfing on my cheap little laptop.

I'm such a nerd grrrl...

There are very few things that I love more than star wars. I was lucky to see Star Wars IV (see super nerdy) in 1979 at a drive in movie theatre in Port Elgin, Ontario and have been hooked ever since. Adventures in Stormtrooping are images of "the day to day activities of everybody's favorite Imperial thugs in white" created by Greg Easton, a photographer with action figures! Ever so awesome!

He has a book that I'd like for my coffee table. I bet you'd like one too!

Discovered this flicker site through Uncrate. They say they are a site for men but they frequently have stuff I want or like... So I don't understand why they are so gender specific.

Tails from the Vault

New owl buttons. I created two designs for the button show and publication that goes along with the Tails from the Vault show at the U of L Art Gallery.

This show was curated from the enormous art collection by the Trap\door ARC Board (which includes me.) I also helped put together the publication with Brenna Kanski and Chai Duncan.
We concentrated on contemporary imagery of animals found in the collection. I'm pretty excited to show the world what we found. Imagine giant stuffed dogs with apartment buildings and speakers in their bellies, giant paintings of cats, flocked bunny prints! Awesome!

Post Failure - Font Maybe

Four days in - already off the posting everyday band wagon... Ugh. Insomnia followed by falling asleep in the middle of the day does not for good blogging make. I'm going to pretend the last two days didn't happen.

Apparently, I'M COURIER.

Supposedly because I'm "unconventional." Well yes, I guess I am but I'm not a huge fan of courier. Maybe because its too obvious and I associate it with handmade punk zines. And don't get me wrong, I LOVE handmade zines but I think I'm trying to project a classier font these days.
