Walking Street Machine Puppets

More wondrous French creations have been circulating the blogosphere. I wish we had some wooly mammoths running in the streets here in Alberta. This elephant is from Les Machines de l'Ile. I really can't get enough of these circus street puppets.

2006 in Paris I saw an exhibition of La Machine and Royal de Luxe. This is a a link to an English website for those who can not read french.

I was prompted by boing boing.

Cat Mazza is My Hero

Ecstatic about the interview with Cat Mazza on we make money not art.

New media and craft do exist in the same plane of existence.
Crazy amazing new media fibre artist - Otto von Busch . I spent hours perusing this website. I'm super-inspired.

Bedding for the Birds

Dwell makes the most lovely patterned sheets for kids and grown-ups. ( Is it wrong to want kid's sheets for my own bed?) I aspire to a design lifestyle outside of my wallet range.

Turned on by print & pattern.

More Adhesive Beauty

Flickr has a new Mid Century Modern - Sticker, Label & Stamp Club. This image is apparently from a polish matchbox. I would have taken up smoking to carry these around.

Year of the Rat

Arrived in the mail yesterday. I think I'm going to mat and frame them. Delightful rat stamps are from Canada Post.

Carol also likes rat stamps.

Indian Mind-blow

This is an accordion style book of Indian Fireworks advertising. It looks luscious. I'm adding it to my amazon wishlist right now. Cock is the name of an Indian Fireworks Company. How delightful.

Beauteous Pattern

This silkscreened paper called Systema from Jamie Zollars makes me tingle inside - narwhales, zebracorns and owls are all combined in one gorgeous pattern. I wish it was fabric because then I'd make bed sheets and sleep in it naked. Pretend you didn't read that.

Plates for Your Wall

Hilde Tempelman is dutch. I can't understand most of her website. (Just noticed the english flag for english translation. duh!) She has taken thrift store plates and delightful doodled all over them. Tempel

Found while endlessly searching for the perfect balance of useful and beautiful in a wallet. I'm concerned that it doesn't exist. But I did find this so my surfing time was not wasted.

Cool Things Come From Iceland

Vik Prjonsdottir seems to be the coolest fibre design place on the planet. Not only are their products practical and beautiful but they are based on Icelandic legends.

Hint came from Veer.

Design Advice Posters

Advice to Sink in Slowly:
The University College Falmouth (UCF) asked graduates to create posters with advice for first years. The project has grown and there are some awesome posters with some awesome advice (not just for first years.) Some people have such excellent ideas. I'd buy them all.

Words Are Not Enough by Ellie Cryer (Her portfolio site is luscious!)

As seen on Drawn!

Owls Light up the Night

I desperately want one of these lamps. Desperately.
Designed by Rick Lee. Discovered through Inhabitat.

Wearable Map Gloves

These are on display at at the Chicago Field Museum's Maps: Finding Our Place in the World exhibition. I think they are beautiful and wish I had maps on my gloves.

Tip off from Boing Boing.
